Hats off to Brakspear’s seasonal ale

Brakspear is supporting its seasonal ale for December, Oh Be Joyful, with the offer of a free Santa hat for every customer buying four pints in one of the 50 pubs running the incentive. Oh Be Joyful is available in all Brakspear pubs from this week.

Hopes are high for the promotion following the runaway success of a similar offer in the summer, offering a Brakspear-branded boater hat with the July seasonal ale, Hooray Henley. Timed to coincide with the Henley Royal Regatta, the hats flew out of pubs in and around the town, with around 1,500 handed out and sales of Hooray Henley up by 150% on their 2012 level.

Brakspear chief executive Tom Davies said, “Back in the summer, our boater hats were worn in pub gardens all over Henley, so we’re expecting our Santa hats to become a ‘must wear’ item at office parties and other festive gatherings.”

Oh Be Joyful is a 4.3% ABV rich, fruity ale with a warming finish and is always a popular choice among festive drinkers. The Santa hat offer is available in a number of pubs in Henley town centre: The Anchor, The Angel on the Bridge, The Little Angel, The Row Barge, The Three Horseshoes and The Three Tuns.

Brakspear’s seasonal ale for November, Top Notch, sold out early in all pubs in and around Henley, thanks to the overwhelming success of the company’s first-ever Jazz & Blues Week.  By 20th November, supplies of the ale had been exhausted – the earliest point in the month ever for a seasonal ale to sell out.
