A blooming big cheque!
August 6, 2015

Henley’s floral displays received a big boost recently when local brewer and pub operator Brakspear handed a cheque for £450 to Henley in Bloom. The money was raised from sales of its Blooming Marvellous seasonal ale.
Brakspear pubs sold Blooming Marvellous throughout June and the 4.3% ABV golden ale with floral notes, proved a popular, easy-drinking pint in pub gardens. Brakspear donated 20p to Henley in Bloom for every pint sold.
Brakspear marketing manager Emma Sweet presented the cheque to Henley in Bloom at the Angel on the Bridge, which sold the most pints of Blooming Marvellous. She said, “Henley’s beautiful floral displays are a large part of the town’s appeal to its many visitors, many of whom also enjoy a pint in a Brakspear pub. As a company with a centuries-old tie to the town, Brakspear was more than happy to support Henley in Bloom for a second year.”
Kellie Hinton, chair of Henley in Bloom, said, “Brakspear is a valued partner of Henley in Bloom and we are grateful for their support, and delighted with this donation to our funds, which will be put to good use in 2016. We’re already brainstorming with Brakspear and have a few ideas up our sleeve. It’s also good to know that pubgoers locally chose to drink a beer that supported Henley in Bloom – though I’m sure its great taste was also a factor!”
Planning is already underway for Brakspear to support Henley in Bloom during 2016. Blooming Marvellous was brewed at the Bell Street Brewery, where Brakspear regularly produce beers celebrating aspects of Henley life, such as ‘Two Bells’ brewed to mark the recent Club to Pub Swim.
