Some traditions are so good, you just have to keep them going. In April, Sean & Vanessa Arnett hosted their 15th St George’s Day Beer Festival, and thei fifth at the Blackwood Arms. Sean said, “I love celebrating our national day and this was probably our most successful event, I think because the weather was better than usual – it’s often been very cold, or wet!”
The pub was bedecked with St George bunting and flags and an outdoor bar served a great selection of beers from around the country. Sean says, “Beer drinkers like to try out new tastes, though we’ve learned over the years that golden ales and American Pale Ales always sell best, and we rarely have anything over 5% ABV. Over the four days of the Beer Festival, we sold around 1,000 pints and our customer enjoyed drinking something different.”
