A customer from the Saracens Head in Henley-on-Thames is heading for Las Vegas in May, after winning Brakspear’s first ever Poker Tournament, which ran in 10 pubs from October to January with support from Redtooth Poker.

Winner Brant Harrison was one of the finalists at the Brakspear Poker Grand Final, held recently at the Grosvenor Casino in Reading, which brought together four winners from each participating pub.  Brant’s poker face won him first place, ahead of Nathan Lewis of the Dog & Duck in Wokingham, and he is now guaranteed a place at Redtooth’s Vegas 100 competition in Las Vegas.

However, it’s not all over yet for Nathan, or the other five highest finishers from the Brakspear Final, as they have been invited to Redtooth’s National Final in Coventry, with a chance of winning one of 10 more tickets to the Las Vegas event.

Melanie Roberson, licensee at the Saracens Head, said, “We found the poker nights a really good way to add something new and exciting to customers’ visit to the pub and they certainly built traffic on Thursday nights.  It’s a fun, social way to spend a few hours and the rewards, including the £100 bar tab to the winner from our pub tournament, were a good incentive to return and play every week.

“It’s great that Brant has won the top prize and we wish him well in Las Vegas.  We’ll definitely be running the poker tournament again when it’s back in September.”

The Brakspear Poker Tournament will be running again in September and is open to all Brakspear pubs. For more information, email emma@brakspear.co.uk
