Record fundraising by Bell regular
May 10, 2016

A former team member from the Bell in Banstead has raised a stunning £26,000+ for the National Brain Appeal after completing the London Marathon earlier this year – believed to be a record amount for fundraising by an individual. Virginia Goldsack worked for several years at the Bell, before sadly being diagnosed with an accoustic neuroma in 2013. Surgery at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery left her with permanent hearing loss in her right ear.
Always a keen athlete, Virginia decided to run the London Marathon for the National Brain Trust. Gordon and Linda Pool, tenants at the Bell, supported her with a collecting box in the bar, and donations flooded in from many regulars. She completed the course, with boyfriend Freddie Mead, in just over 5hrs 30 minutes.
