Putting The Anchor back at heart of Henley
February 7, 2025
It’s a family affair at The Anchor since Andrew & Kate Cryne, along with son Elliot, took on the popular Friday Street pub last year. The Crynes moved from Manningtree in Essex, where they managed The Crown, to have their own business.
Their aim was to make The Anchor a ‘positive and safe’ hub for the local community, and their first job was to give the pub a refurb, adding brighter colours throughout.
Andrew said: “We want the pub to be a lovely space for people to come and meet friends and family and we are greeting everyone with a warm welcome and a smile.”
In the months since they reopened The Anchor, the Crynes have put the pub at the heart of the local community. In the run up to Christmas, it was one of the ‘doors’ in Henley’s Living Advent Calendar, hosting a performance of festive songs by local singer Jonny B. The event in the pub garden was enjoyed by more than 100 customers and raised £407 for the Henley Community Hub.
