Brakspear Pubs release Midsomer Cycle Challenge

A brilliant new challenge, the Brakspear Midsomer Cycle has been added to Brakspear’s popular, smart, and easy to use app. It’s an invitation to get on your bike and visit each of the nine Brakspear pubs that have featured in the popular TV show Midsomer Murders.

Visit all nine pubs and you’ll be rewarded not only with spectacular scenery en route, but also with a metal Brakspear water bottle at the end. Perfect for hot or cold drinks when you’re out on your bike.

Thanks goes to the two wheeled experts at Henley Cycles who cycled and mapped out the route for this 113km (70 miles) challenge, which if you take on the whole route, would involve around 8 hours of cycling.

This may seem a tall task if you’re not the next Mark Cavendish, so you might want to break the route down into more Miss Marple manageable sections. These have been mapped out for you, but you can always visit the pubs one at a time or plan your own route. All the Brakspear Midsomer Cycle routes can be found on Ride With GPS.

Pubs on the route are The Angel on the Bridge in Henley, the Chequers Inn at Fingest, Blackwood Arms at Littleworth Common, Bull & Butcher at Turville, Chequers at Watlington, the Crooked Billet at Stoke Row, the Golden Ball at Lower Assendon, the Six Bells at Warborough and the White Hart Hotel in Nettlebed.

Like the Ale trail, you’ll need to visit each pub and purchase at least one drink per cyclist in each pub. All the pubs serve excellent food, so you could have a bite to eat to refuel after your cycle and the White Hart in Nettlebed has rooms, so maybe plan an overnight stay as well.

If getting on your bike isn’t your thing, you can simply visit these pubs whether on foot or by car but do check individual pubs for bar and kitchen opening times.
