The 90th birthday cake for Hollybush regular John Tingey
When Hollybush regular John Tingey reached his 90th birthday, the celebrations took place at the pub – naturally! A BBQ and buffet lunch for 60 guests was followed by a special cake, baked by one of John’s granddaughters, in the shape of the pub with a figure of John – well-known locally for his Trilby hat and love of Guinness – sitting outside.
Landlord Gordon Dickens said: “John’s first visit to the pub was in 1943, when he was a young Army cadet. It was an honour to mark his milestone birthday at the Hollybush and the birthday cake was a masterpiece!”
