Henley gets Joyful in Santa hats

Pub-goers in and around Henley are getting into the festive spirit with the help of the free Santa hats offered by Brakspear pubs with their seasonal ale for December, Oh Be Joyful.  Close to 3,000 hats have already been given away to customers purchasing four pints of the festive ale.

The promotion runs until Christmas and several pubs have already ordered extra hats to meet demand from customers. Licensee of The Three Tuns in Market Place, Mark Duggan said, “The Santa hat has been a really popular offer. We’ve seen groups of friends coming in and buying a round of Oh Be Joyful to claim their free hat, and they’ve been worn at almost every Christmas office party we’ve hosted at The Three Tuns. It’s a simple, fun way to create a festive atmosphere in the pub.”

Oh Be Joyful is a 4.3% ABV rich, fruity ale with a warming finish and is always a popular choice among festive drinkers. The Santa hat is available in a number of pubs in Henley town centre: The Anchor, The Angel on the Bridge, The Little Angel, The Row Barge, The Three Horseshoes and The Three Tuns, as well as in a number of pubs in outlying villages.

A similar offer in the summer, offering a Brakspear-branded boater hat with the July seasonal ale, Hooray Henley, saw sales of the beer increase by 150% on their 2012 level. And November’s ale, Top Notch, sold out at the earliest point ever – the 20th – thanks to the Henley Jazz & Bues Week held during the month.
