The Hare & Hounds in Sonning Common have raised £250 in just 9 weeks from their regular Meat Draw, which customers have the chance to win a hamper of meat from a local butchers. Customers pay £1 to enter this exciting and very popular draw. This regular Meat Draw will continue over the course of the next year in support of Brakspear’s new year-long partnership with Sue Ryder.

Michael & Claire Sugg, licensees at the Brakspear pub, said, “We are delighted at the success of our Meat Draw to date.  Our customers really enjoy it and to raise this amount of money for Sue Ryder already is fantastic. Over the next year we have some really exciting plans to support the charity.”

On 5 December, the pub held a ‘Wheelchair Pool Tournament’. Michael said, “One of our regular customers lives his day to day life in a wheelchair and he loves his pool. He wanted to challenge other customers at pool whilst they play sitting in a wheelchair.”

Claire Sugg recently took part in the charity’s ‘Starlight Hike’ 10k Walk which saw over 100 supporters take part. Claire and her team of 4 are on target to raise £400 for Sue Ryder Nettlebed Hospcie.

Tracey Hancock, Head of Fundraising at Sue Ryder Duchess of Kent and Nettlebed Hospices, said: “The money Hare & Hounds have raised at their pub to date will enable us to provide incredible care for our patients. We are very grateful to them for their support.”
