Andre McCowan and wife Pey took on the King William IV in November.  It’s a big change for Andre, who was executive chef at Chelsea FC for nine-and-a-half years, with responsibility for food service for the players, on-site hotel and owner’s box.  He says, “Pey and I had talked about running a pub years ago, and with the Chelsea ground set to be redeveloped, it seemed a good time to turn our dream into a reality.

“We visited scores of pubs, but the King William IV stood out, so we contacted Brakspear and everything went through. We’ve made a few tweaks to what we’re offering, but really we’re working out what our customers want. We’ll be launching a new menu in January, and looking ahead to summer, we’re got some big plans for our big garden – an outdoor bar, maybe some live music, as there’s no space for it indoors. “
