Flippin’ good pancakes!

Customers visiting the Old Bell on Bell Street on Shrove Tuesday earlier this month were offered free pancakes, as licensees Rob Hooton and Pamela Myles decided to celebrate the pre-Lent festival in traditional style.

As word spread, pancake-lovers made their way to the pub, where they could enjoy their pancakes either plain or with a range of fillings: lemon and sugar; ice cream, banana and chocolate sauce, or poached egg. Vegan and gluten free pancakes were available.

Rob said, “I’d never even made a pancake before today and it’s been full on since I started this morning. I must have cooked more than 100, so I’ve gone straight from novice to expert!”

Rob moved from flipping pancakes to spinning discs as the Old Bell held a disco in the evening.  A great way for customers who’d indulged to work off the calories!
