Experienced operators take on The Chequers

Experienced operators Harry Dickson & John Thirlway have brought their successful two-year partnership to The Chequers in Berrick Salome.

Both have worked in Brakspear pubs previously; Harry ran The Three Tuns and The Townhouse and continues to run The White Horse, while John was a GM at The Bull on Bell Street and will be responsible for day-to-day operations at The Chequers.

The Chequers reopened just before Christmas after a full refurbishment and with a talented team including head chef Danny Thomas, who worked under Gordon Ramsay at Mayfair’s Michelin-starred restaurant Maze Grill.

With Danny’s culinary talent, the team is aiming to put The Chequers back on the culinary map with ‘elevated pub classics’ including fish & chips and pie of the day.

The pub is wooing customers with some strong offers, including a ‘Pie and a Pint’ every Tuesday, Steak Night on Thursdays and Happy Hour from 4.30 – 6.30 Tuesday-Friday, as well as calendar opportunities such as Valentine’s Day.
