Events to drive traffic at The George

David Crook & Will Buck (pictured below, left to right) become the first business owners of this historic pub in Maulden, Bedfordshire, which was acquired by Brakspear last summer.

The duo are experienced hospitality professionals: David had a lease on The Sun pub in Drury Lane and Will was for many years a successful GM at The Nag’s Head, also in Covent Garden. They met in the playground at the local school dropping off their respective children, because friends and later set up a business together.

The George has a light and airy bar area, a restaurant with 120 covers, private function room and seven boutique-style, en suite bedrooms. Maulden is just 5 miles from the 476-acre plot of land bought by Universal Studios in 2023, with a view to building a new theme park which, if it goes ahead, could generate an estimated £50 billion for the UK and create 20,000 jobs.

Since taking over, David & Will have lost no time in giving local people reasons to visit The George. Over the festive season, the pub hosted a Children’s Party in its courtyard, carol singing and a New Year’s Eve Dinner Dance.  And the start of 2025 is also activity-packed with a Burns Night Supper, Wine Tasting and regular Accoustic Music sessions on Sundays and a Friday Coffee Club.
