Drinkers bowled over by Brakspear Bitter offer
April 25, 2014
Response from drinkers in and around Henley to Brakspear’s latest loyalty offer, a free bowler hat given to drinkers purchasing four pints of Brakspear Bitter, has been so enthusiastic that the pubs taking part have almost run out of hats.
An extra 2,500 pints of Brakspear Bitter were sold during April, compared to the same month last year. The bowler promotion is the third to be offered by Brakspear pubs, following the success of a boater hat giveaway linked to Hooray Henley ale last July and a free Santa hat with December’s seasonal ale, Oh Be Joyful.
Emma Sweet, Brakspear marketing manager, said, “The Brakspear bowlers really flew out of our pubs in Henley over the Easter bank holiday weekend. This is always an important weekend for our pubs, as it usually means summer is on the way. We decided to add an extra element of fun with our Brakspear bowlers, and they’ve certainly been a sought-after item, as they’re pretty much sold out in all pubs that took part.”
At the Perch & Pike in South Stoke, tenant Alex Koniotes said, “The Brakspear bowler offer was a brilliant one for our pub. We’re right on the Ridgeway walking and cycling trail and over the long weekend, everyone who stopped seemed to want to get a hat for the rest of their ramble or bike ride. It was a fun reward that put a smile on customers’ faces, was really simple for us to operate and definitely increased our sales of Brakspear Bitter.”
