Golf lovers should be putting Friday 27 April in their diaries, as the Brakspear Golf Day returns to Henley Golf Club for a second year.
Once again, the tournament is open to teams of four players from any Brakspear pub, ideally including the landlord – though that’s not essential. Only 22 teams can take part, with places allocated on a ‘first come, first in’ basis. To sign up, simply find your team members and sign up in your Brakspear local.
Entry to the Brakspear Golf Day costs £180 per team (£45 per person) and includes 18 holes of golf at Henley Golf Club at Harpsden, which is widely regarded as one of the finest courses in the region. Players will also enjoy a bacon roll on arrival, a sustaining pint of Brakspear and sausage roll at the halfway hut and, back at the Club House, lunch and more beer before the prize presentations. All players will also receive a selection of golf goodies.
The winning team will receive a trophy to display in their pub, while all members of the first four placed teams will also win prizes. There is also a special prize for anyone who manages a hole in one.
Last year’s winners were the Red Lion at Cholsey, with the Little Angel in Remenham and the Reformation at Gallowstree Common tieing for second place.
Tom Davies, Brakspear chief executive, said, “Last year’s Golf Day was a great success so we we’re delighted to be running it again. It really is back by popular demand from our licensees and their customers and we’re expecting places to fill quickly.
“The event brings together people with a shared love of Brakspear pubs, beer and golf and is a really enjoyable day. It’s also a great opportunity to play at the historic Henley Golf Course; our entry cost is less than the standard green fee and also includes lunch, other refreshments and prizes.”
To take part in the Brakspear Golf Day, call into any Brakspear pub and ask to speak to the landlord about completing the registration form. For a list of pubs, visit: www.brakspear.co.uk
