Five employees at pub operator and brewer Brakspear’s Henley head office completed the Three Peaks Challenge earlier this month, raising close to £3,500 for children’s charity Action Medical Research.

The Challenge involves scaling the highest peaks in Great Britain: Ben Nevis, Snowdon and Scafell Pike. Team Brakspear, comprising finance director David Nathan, marketing manager Emma Sweet, and Kelly Dorrell, Michael Timothy and Sam Coogan, all from the Brakspear finance team, completed the challenge in a respectable 29 hours 36 minutes, with support from colleagues Rebecca Simpson and Yazminn Robinson also from the finance team.

Emma Sweet said, “We all trained ahead of the Challenge, but over the weekend, it was tough both physically and mentally.  We’re all pleased to have managed it, and delighted to have raised this much money for Action Medial Research.

“Huge thanks go to Bex and Yaz who drove us from peak to peak, cooked our meals and kept us going whenever we flagged. We’re also grateful to all the Brakspear licensees, customers and friends who sponsored us: knowing that every step up the mountain was raising money definitely kept us going when the going got tough!”

Action Medical Research funds medical research into the diseases that devastate the lives of children. Since it was founded in 1952 the charity has funded medical breakthroughs like the first polio vaccines in the UKultrasound in pregnancy and the rubella vaccine – helping to save thousands of children’s lives and change many more.
