Brakspear reopens Chequers in Marlow
April 7, 2015

Brakspear has reopened the Chequers in Marlow after an extensive refurbishment which has enhanced and updated the historic town centre pub.
The redevelopment included creating a new snug alehouse, now called the Churchill Tap. This now serves a wide range of beers from Brakspear, including several from their Bell Street Brewery in Henley, as well as Meantime, Pilsner Urquell and beers from local breweries in Buckinghamshire and a choice of bottled world beers.
The Churchill Tap is styled as a traditional English pub with bar stools and dried hops along the beams. A specialist beer connoisseur will be on hand behind the bar to inform customers about the beers on offer and guide them in making a choice. Bar snacks including homemade sausage rolls, piccalilli, scotch eggs and a selection of cheeses and breads, are available to order.
The Chequers main bar area and two spacious dining rooms have been given an overhaul to create light-filled spaces, and the main bar counter has been extended to welcome visitors directly on entering the pub.
Tom Davies, Brakspear chief executive, said, “The Chequers was already a popular and well-established pub, and the refurbishment has enhanced it and made it an even more comfortable place to drink and dine.”
Renowned for its steaks and grills, the Chequers’ flavourful and reasonably priced menu will continue to offer the very best quality cuts of 90 day, wet aged Australian beef, cut to size and shape to suit from its Butcher’s Block counter.
The Chequers was brought into Brakspear’s managed pub division last September.
