Brakspear helped to make Christmas Day special for a group of elderly residents in and around Henley, who enjoyed a festive lunch on the day organised by local group Community Spirit.

Brakspear donated beer, wine and soft drinks for the lunch, held at Christ Church Centre and attended by more than 75 guests and 30 Community Spirit volunteers.  Everyone enjoyed the lunch and the entertainment provided, with one guest Colin declaring the day “the best Christmas I have ever had!”

This was the third year of the Christmas lunch and once again, it was a great community effort with support and donations from a number of local businesses and groups.  Brakspear has supplied drinks to the event from the start.  This year wine was donated by Berkmann (Brakspear’s wine supplier) and the soft drinks by Coca-Cola.

Brakspear marketing manager Emma Sweet said, “We’re delighted to have helped Community Spirit put on this lunch for elderly people who would otherwise have been on their own on Christmas Day.  As a company that’s rooted in Henley, we’re always happy to help community initiatives and we applaud Community Spirit on their great work.

“We look forward to Brakspear drinks being served at their lunch for many years to come.”

She added, “Brakspear is keen to counter the social isolation that many people, young and old, face every day, and our pubs play an important role by welcoming people and offering a friendly atmosphere where customers can meet and chat over a pint or a soft drink.”
