Accolade for Tilbury Inn

Brakspear pub the Tilbury Inn in Datchworth has been honoured with a two AA Rosette Award – less than a year since the new tenants Tom & Jamie Bainbridge took over the pub.

The Tilbury Inn joins an exclusive group of restaurants: just  4% of UK eateries hold the two AA Rosette Award, which recognises excellence in cooking standards, consistency and the quality of ingredients.

Tenant and chef Tom Bainbridge said of the award: ‘It’s always nice to have recognition for what we do. The whole team in the kitchen and front of house work very hard to deliver the best food and service we can. We don’t aim to receive accolades,  we just want to make our guests happy, I must say though I am chuffed we have received this in our first year.’

Brothers Tom and Jamie have quickly established a strong reputation for serving an exciting and innovative menu at the Tilbury.  The beautiful pub sits in the heart of Datchworth, a picturesque village in the Hertfordshire countryside. With several areas to dine in, The Tilbury can offer private dining for various occasions and with warmer months the terrace and garden really come into their own.

The brothers aim to deliver British cuisine, focusing on classic dishes with a modern twist. With new creations weekly the menu can offer light lunches as well as a full A La Carte Menu and those relaxed Sunday lunches with the family. You’ll find something for all tastes on the menu and little ones aren’t forgotten as a child’s menu is available along with smaller portions of the ‘big menu’ available too.

The Tilbury is open for lunch and dinner and offers relaxed dining with an A La Carte menu, good pub classics and a great value set menu.
